Pelikan 400 Gray Striped Fountain Pen circa 1950-54 w/ 14C-585 OM Nib

This auction is for a
Pelikan 400 Gray striped fountain pen
.  This is one of the more uncommon finishes released by Pelikan.  This particular example dates from 1950-1954.  The cap band has no engraving indicating earlier production.  The nib is a 14C-585 gold nib in OM width.  The piston knob has an "F" engraved on it and the bottom of the barrel reads "Günther Wagner Pelikan."
The pen is very clean overall.  There is some mild brassing on the clip.  There are the expected micro scratches on the barrel.  The piston travels freely along the length of the barrel.  There is no evidence of any dents, cracks, or large scratches.  The pen lacks any personalization.  The biggest issue of note is that the polystyrene collar surrounding the nib and feed has cracked and needs replacing.  A suitable reproduction collar can be easily sourced.  The pen's starting price was made to reflect this.
