On September 14, 2020, the Pittsburgh Pirates visited the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park for a doubleheader. In Game 2, Mitch Keller started for the Pirates, while Anthony DeSclafani went for the Reds. In the bottom of the sixth, Geoff Hartlieb was on the mound for the Pirates. He hit Freddy Galvis to start the inning. Hartlieb walked Kyle Farmer. Curt Casali then walked to load the bases. Shogo Akiyama came to bat. On the sixth pitch, HARTLIEB HELD THIS BALL IN THIS HAND!! He threw a 94.7 mph sinker, and AKIYAMA FOULED OFF THIS BALL. This ball was then retired. Akiyama eventually walked, scoring Galvis. Nicholas Castellanos hit a fielder’s choice to Erik Gonzalez, scoring Farmer. Joey Votto walked after Casali scored on a wild pitch. Austin Davis replaced Hartlieb. Eugenio Suarez struck out, and Mike Moustakas hit into a double play to end the inning. The Reds went on to win 9-4. This ball is MLB Authenticated for Akiyama’s foul off Hartlieb.
