    Description

MLB Authenticated - Rafael Ortega GO to Kyle Farmer/Joey Votto off Tyler Mahle. Shipped USPS Priority.
On July 3, 2021, the Chicago Cubs visited the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park. Adbert Alzolay started for the Cubs, while Tyler Mahle went for the Reds. In the top of the fourth, Ian Happ led off with a walk. Rafael Ortega then walked to the plate. With the count 0-2, MAHLE HELD THIS BALL IN HIS HAND!! He threw a 94.2 mph four-seam fastball for a ball. (Yes, that means Tyler Stephenson also touched this ball!!) Mahle then threw an 85.2 mph splitter, and ORTEGA SMACKED THIS BALL TO KYLE FARMER, WHO THREW THIS BALL OVER TO JOEY VOTTO TO GET ORTEGA. This ball was then retired. The Cubs lost the game 3-2 despite hits from Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, Willson Contreras, Ortega, and Eric Sogard. (Joc Pederson, Javier Baez, Jason Heyward, Happ, and Patrick Wisdom all went hitless.) This ball is MLB Authenticated for Ortega’s ground out to Farmer, who threw over to Votto, off Mahle. Please note that this ball does not come with a case. Thank you for purchasing!!
