    Description

MLB Authenticated - Matt Carpenter Ground Out To Joey Votto Off Michael Lorenzen. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail. On August 31, 2020, the St. Louis Cardinals visited the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park. Dakota Hudson started for the Cardinals, while Anthony DeSclafani went for the Reds. In the top of the seventh, Michael Lorenzen was now on the mound for the Reds. Yadier Molina led off with a ground out to Eugenio Suarez. Matt Carpenter then walked to the plate. Carpenter fouled off the third pitch to go 1-2 on the count. For the fourth pitch, LORENZEN HELD THIS BALL IN HIS HAND!! He threw a 96.7 mph!! four-seam fastball for a ball. (Yes, that means Tucker Barnhart also touched this ball!!) He followed that with another 96 mph four-seamer for a ball. With the count full, Lorenzen threw a changeup, and CARPENTER SMACKED THIS BALL TO JOEY VOTTO, who stepped on the bag for the out. (Yes, that means Votto held this ball too!) This ball was then retired. The Cardinals went on to win 7-5 behind hits by Kolten Wong, Tommy Edman, Paul Goldschmidt, Paul DeJong, and Dexter Fowler. (Brad Miller, Molina, Carpenter, Harrison Bader, Lane Thomas, and Dylan Carlson all went hitless.) This ball is MLB Authenticated for all three pitches to Carpenter, including his ground out to Votto in the seventh inning. (I have also listed Carpenter’s ground out to Votto in the fifth inning of this game.) There’s a small dent in the ball. (See photo, although it doesn’t show up well.) Please note that this ball does not come with a case. Thank you for purchasing!!
