MLB Authenticated - Anthony Rizzo Fly Out To Shogo Akiyama Off Joel Kuhnel. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail. On August 29, 2020, the Chicago Cubs visited the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park for a doubleheader. In Game 2, Tejay Antone started for the Reds, while Alec Mills took the mound for the Cubs. In the top of the seventh, Joel Kuhnel replaced Nate Jones for the Reds. Anthony Rizzo led off. Kuhnel HELD THIS BALL IN HIS HAND!! He started with a 97.7 mph four-seam fastball to Rizzo for a called strike. (Yes, that means Curt Casali also touched this ball!) Kuhnel followed that with another four-seamer for a ball. On the third pitch, he tried a sinker that ended up being a ball. On the fourth pitch, Kuhnel went back to the four-seamer, and Rizzo SMACKED THIS BALL TO SHOGO AKIYAMA IN CF FOR A FLY OUT!! (Yes, that means Akiyama touched this ball too!) This ball was then retired. Willson Contreras followed that with a ground out to Eugenio Suarez. (I am also auctioning both baseballs for Contreras’s AB, if you’re interested.) Jason Heyward and David Bote followed that with singles, but Jason Kipnis ended the half inning when he lined out to Jesse Winker. The Cubs lost 6-5 despite hits from Ian Happ, Rizzo, Heyward, and Bote. (Kyle Schwarber, Contreras, Kipnis, Nico Hoerner, and Albert Almora all went hitless.) This ball is MLB Authenticated for all four pitches to Rizzo, including his fly out to Akiyama. Please note that this ball does not come with a case. Thank you for purchasing!!
