Description
Here is an extremely rare very early vintage original autographed 8" by 10" photo of opera star, theater and movie actress Frances McCann (1922-1963), from 1950. Known for the 1962 sci-fi movie The Creation of the Humanoids (In a post holocaust society, robots take it on their own to help the dying human race by giving them android bodies), made the year before her death. Once an uprising opera star and actress, Frances McCann was the subject of newspaper headlines when she was murdered while touring in Italy. Beginning as a light opera singer with the Pasadena Symphony Orchestra, McCann eventually began performing to much popularity on Broadway, appearing in the plays Rosalinda (1942), The Vagabond King (1943), and The Chocolate Soldier (1947). She was also signed to a contract with MGM in the 1940's, though she was never given a film by the company. McCann still had a magnetism towards the opera stage, and extensively throughout Europe and the United States. It was during the last years of her contract with the Berlin Opera House that she was shot in her Italy hotel room by a German businessman who had been stalking her, turning the gun on himself shortly after. She left behind a husband and four children. Staining from tape upper border, minor spots of discoloration, minor corner wear. Extremely rare. Will ship worldwide.
