For your consideration I have very well preserved this
Pelikan 400 Green Striated fountain pen.
Fitted with a 14C-585 flexible Medium
nib.
(writes from M to BB+)
This is the first edition of the Pelikan 400 with a plain cap ring, the nib gauge marked on the piston knob and the old nib without Pelikan logo.
This version was made from 1950 tot 1953.
(From
1954 onwards the cap ring was engraved with Pelikan 400 and the nib gauge was no longer marked on the filling knob. Later in 1954 the nib with the Pelikan logo was introduced)
Made in Germany between 1950 and 1953.
The piston knob is marked 'M' |
The end of the barrel is marked 'GÜNTHER WAGNER PELIKAN'.
For a 70 years old pen, it is in exellent condition. Hardly any wear of the gold filled parts.
The cap shows a few tiny dents that most likely can be polished out. Otherwise the pen shows just micro scratches.
The cap is free of hairline cracks!!
(The 400
has a metal liner inside of the cap.
As the plastic of the cap shrunk over time, the metal liner did not.
This has resulted in hairline cracks in many of the 400 caps)
The piston mechanism operates properly and draws the full amount of ink.
Comes in an unbranded protective pen case.
