Introduced in 1996 as the successor to the BMW R100 RT, the newcomer benefited from changes to the full fairing, increased power output and an increase in capacity. With a curb weight of 600lbs, the emphasis was on rider comfort and safety, featuring ABS-II all round and a smooth fuel-injected boxer engine with 90bhp and 70 lbft of torque.
The 1100RT on offer here hails from an international collector. He kept a handful of bikes in the Los Angeles area for when he and select friends would fly in and enjoy trips up PCH or across the desert. Each bike was meticulously stored at a shop with in-house mechanic to keep them in top riding condition. His collection at home is beyond phenomenal and with hundreds of bikes through all eras over the last 130 years, from all corners of the motorcycle manufacturing world. As such, the BMW here, in graphite grey livery, is in fine riding condition. Showing 25,700 miles from new, the bike is fresh from a service to ready it for sale. It starts easily, idles smoothly, and has great power from the flat twin. The bike shifts smoothly through all six gears, brakes well and all electrical systems work as they should. Cosmetically, the bike is in excellent condition with minor wear, conducive with age and mileage.
The bike comes with a clean, clear California title. California resident buyers: the motorcycle has been placed in non-op status at the DMV so as to not incur any further registration fees.
